Background of the Study
Social media has become an integral part of the daily lives of students, providing them with a platform for communication, learning, and self-expression. Over the past decade, social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter have been used as tools for influencing public attitudes and behaviors (Ibrahim & Ali, 2023). In Wamba LGA, Nasarawa State, students are increasingly using social media not only for social interaction but also as a source of information on various topics, including health, education, and career opportunities. Social media has the potential to serve as a catalyst for behavioral change, especially when it comes to promoting positive behaviors such as healthy living, academic achievement, and social responsibility. This study will examine how social media platforms are being used to influence behavioral change among students in Wamba LGA, focusing on areas such as academic performance, social behavior, and community involvement.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
While social media has been shown to influence the behavior of individuals in various contexts, there is limited research on its specific impact on students’ behaviors in Wamba LGA, Nasarawa State. While some students use social media for educational purposes, others may fall prey to its negative impacts, such as distractions, misinformation, and unhealthy habits.
